In the case of 'Twas the Night after Christmas, I found everyoneexcept Pierce, the hero, since I think his actions were justifiedto be unredeemable. First, there's Pierce's mother. I could not, for the life of me, understand how the hell she managed to ignore her son for so many years.

I don't think any reason is enough to justify that cruelty.4/5(). The Night After Christmas was published in Dear Santa Claus: Charming Holiday Stories for Boys and Girls () by W.B. Conkey Company, author unattributed.

Moore read the poem to his wife and six children the night he wrote it, and supposedly thought no more about it.

But a family friend heard about it and submitted the poem to the Sentinel, a newspaper in upstate New York, which published it anonymously the following Christmas.

The Night Before Christmas is a book, that for me, had both its highs and lows overall making it an average read. This is less of a Christmas story and more of a chick-lit novel with a Christmas backdrop.
